With less than a month to go now before we leave for summer vacations, I realize I have a lot of catching up to do with the blog.
The month of May has been busy beyond belief! Activities at school, parties, playdates ... you name it! Two weeks ago, all the red shirts at Campo had the "Mini-Olympics". It was such a joy to tag along and participate with Mati. The Olympics were non-competitive and all the kids, from Nursery to Kinder, were mixed into color teams. They swam, played several children games (mosquito, dodge ball, etc.), climbed, ate, and DRANK lots of water!! They finished the day with an assembly in the theatre, making the children feel so very proud.
That day, on our way to pick up Santi, I asked him if he had napped in the classroom. He proudly answered, "No, and I'm NOT tired." Five minutes later, mouth open, drool dropping, he was deep asleep!!
The opening ceremony was adorable. The kids and teachers walked down the school entrance proudly shouting their color chants ("We are the yellow team, we shine like the sun!") Mateo carried the flag for his team, while his friend Andres was the sun. To his right is Emma.
The day before the Olympics, my brother and Brandon ran a gruesome triathlon. Mateo was very inspired by their accomplishment, so at the end of the swimming part, Mateo asks me if his team was going to ride their bicycles or if they were going to run. When I said no, he concluded that he was just a half Ironman.
He is getting soooo good at climbing.
