Santi had requested candies, candies and more candies at his party and that's what I gave him ... with a twist and limit. I had lollipops, gummy bears and candy drops (organic, of course! About 10 lbs of candy which I hauled back with me from California!!), Tweezers, homemade cake pops, which were a BIG hit, and a popcorn stand. People who know me were shocked at the availability of junk food but relieved to see the "Paty" touch of fresh fruit. To say the least, the kids were loving the goodies. Santi ate so much "junk food" that before the party was over he had a bit of diarrhea! But he LOVED every single bite of everything he ate!
The cake was yuuuuumy - it was an orange cake with a Nutella filling. My good friend, Mari, made it for Santi. There were also healthy food choices. I had cheese platters at every table, accompanied by walnuts and dried fruits (guess who ate most of the cheese??? Hint: it wasn't the guests!), and we embraced the local culture and served arepas. I think the guests enjoyed them: we had four fillings available - carne mechada, reina papiada and two types of local cheeses.
All the decorations were assembled or made by yours truly. Mateo helped me decorate the backdrop. He drew Super Santi saving a falling Statue of Liberty (picture on the right) and a falling Eiffel Tower (on the left).
I just realized that there aren't many pictures of Santi from the party!!! But as I reflect on it, it's a good thing because that means he was having fun jumping or eating or playing with his friends.
