Weekends

We've had terrible weather lately ... lots of rain, wind and chilly temperatures.  But with a 2 year old, we still have to go out and do stuff,  so to spice things up, we took Mati to Stinson Beach last weekend to play soccer and have a picnic on the beach.  This weekend, we went to the San Jose Discovery Museum.  We hadn't been there in a while and discovered a whole bunch of activities that we had bypassed before, like the water exhibit.   Despite the overwhelming number of kids, he was very good at sharing and at accepting when we said we needed to move on to something else because we had to make space for other kids.

Mati was thrilled with the outing.  He is obviously more coordinated, stronger and more aware of his surroundings and of cause and effect.   My sister mentioned on Saturday, when we had dinner at their place, that she noticed Mateo to have grown - he is making longer sentences, using prepositions, and I guess acts more like a little boy.  Time goes by fast ...

Water play ... total joy!

We had to change his apron because he got completely drenched!
There was smoke coming out of the water - here's Mati blowing it away.

Daddy's Home!!!

What joy! After three LOOOOONG weeks, Nico is finally back home with us! It was a very happy reunion at the airport. Mati ran to his daddy's arms and didn't want to let go of him! The whole weekend has been, "Daddy, sit here," "Daddy, come with me," "Daddy hold my hand." Mommy has been pretty much out of the picture.

We've had an enjoyable weekend as a family - not doing much but just happy to be with each other. On Sunday, we went on campus to see and cheer the tios compete in the Berkeley Triathlon. Mati had fun seeing all the athletes but was rather concerned to see they didn't have pants on (they running in Spandex). And then he feasted on orange slices and bananas, like a true triathlete!!

Looking out for Daddy on the TV monitor

OH MY!!!!!! DADDY!!!!

Happiness is to be back in Daddy's arms ... and to hold Mati!

I'm Small But Not Dumb

We were having dinner on Saturday with my family. Mateo was ravished to be eating beets and potato pancakes. He then noticed that we were all having juice with our dinner and he asked for some. I normally don't like him to drink juices because of the high sugar content, but I couldn't say no when we were ALL drinking that. So I filled his glass with water and pretended to pour some juice as well. He had several sips and then said: "No juice." I feigned ignorance and pretended to refill his glass with juice. He was watching closely and then he said, "Mommy, bottle has cap." No wonder the juice wasn't coming out!!! :)

Ready to go on a walk - it was freeeeeeeezing!
